Idolatry: Not Just Worshipping Statues

Though temples to Zeus, Marduk, Baal, or other ancient pagan deities may not dot our landscape, that doesn’t mean idolatry isn’t still alive and well. An especially appropriate message for the Lenten season, as we are challenged during this time of year to carefully examine our spiritual lives and try to root out sin. Thank you, Fr. Barron!

  1. We are so blessed to have Fr. Barron!! Thanks for sharing

    • I’m glad I found his videos on YouTube. He always has excellent things to say.

  2. Evan, this is really good. I’ve meditated often on the hierarchy of the ten commandments – why God gave them in the order in which He did.

I’m sure with your job you have less time to post, but I miss your contributions – especially the funny ones! Anyway, I hope things are going well for you.

    • Thanks, Barb! Actually, I’ve just been lazy about doing blog posts lately. I plan to get back into the swing of things before long.

Once again, Fr. Barron delivers a great talk for us to reflect on. It’s so easy to forget that the prohibition against idolatry extends to so much more than just worshiping a pagan image. What idols are in my life that need to be smashed?

  3. I love Father Barron’s videos and audios! Thanks for sharing!

    • Glad you found it beneficial!
