Persecution Today

Fr. Robert Barron discusses persecution faced by many Christians around the world:

  1. I have to wonder, what is it about Christianity that Islamists fear so much that it makes them try to kill us all? It has to be more than the passages in the Koran. It suits an agenda. I never believed in the so-called “Arab Spring”. From the beginning it was the “Arab Winter” with the Muslim Brotherhood manipulating others to suit its agenda. We must remember to pray for our persecuted brethren. It’s possible that the 21st century will see even more martyrs for the Faith than the 20th.

    • I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re right about the possibility of more martyrs this century. And it seems that whenever a secular dictatorship in a predominantly Muslim country is overthrown, it just opens the door for a different kind of tyranny–an Islamic one. Besides, it’s been pointed out time and again that Islam isn’t just a religion, it’s a political ideology as well.

  2. Hi Evan, just bought Fr. Barron’s “Catholicism” CD series and book. GREAT!!!

    • Let’s get a group together and watch ’em! 🙂
