Sabbath Moments

We all need times of refreshing, or what I suppose could be called “little Sabbaths.” Each Saturday, Colleen Spiro hosts “Sabbath Moments” at her blog, “Thoughts on Grace.” Join us and read about and/or share your Sabbath moments!

This week I got to visit a couple of friends and enjoy an evening of good food, a crazy sci-fi movie (Cloverfield), and conversation. Since I don’t get a lot of chance to fellowship with people, that was a nice treat. And last night my parents and I watched An American Carol, a zany–though patriotic–comedy that lampoons arch-liberal Michael Moore. It gave us quite a few laughs, something we we need these days in the midst of some family issues.

As you probably saw on the news, Hurricane Earl passed by us (I live in eastern North Carolina); fortunately, all we got was some wind and rain (which we badly needed), but nothing serious. So I suppose the relief of learning that Earl wasn’t going to slam into us can count as a Sabbath moment!

And may you all have a Sabbath moment this Labor Day!

“Thine is the day, and thine is the night: thou hast made the morning light and the sun. Thou hast made all the borders of the earth: the summer and the spring were formed by thee.” Ps. 73: 16-17 (Douay-Rheims version)

  1. Great moments! Glad Earl passed you by! Time with friends is so special. And laughter is so healing, isn’t it! Thanks for joining in every week! God bless!

    • Thanks for hosting this meme. Yes, laughter and fellowship are always wonderful gifts.

  2. So glad you had a laugh with your folks. Enjoy them while you have them. Mine both died within 6 months of each other after 65 years of marriage. Thank God Earl passed you by. Have a great Labor Day weekend!

    • Thanks! I hope you have great weekend too!
